Special Concern

The Tropical Cyclone Nargis hit Myanmar on 3 May 2008 severely. Five regions in Myanmar were declared disaster zones Sunday after Tropical Cyclone Nargis smashed hundreds of houses, knocked out electricity and left at least four people dead. [I] note: later reports now put the death toll at nearly 4000 with many more persons reported missing. Some areas of the Irriwaddy delta are so devasted that rescue workers have been unable to access them].

YANGON (Reuters) - Countries worldwide promised help to Myanmar after a cyclone killed 10,000 people in just one town, suggesting the overall death toll in the impoverished military-run Southeast Asian nation will be much higher.
"In Irrawaddy division the death toll amounts to more than 10,000," said Tuesday morning's Myanmar TV broadcast. "The missing is about 3,000. In Bogalay, the death toll is about 10,000."

PMCF Up date Concerns: April 2008

Special Occasion

The first SportFest in PMCF's history is celebrated joyfully in the month of April 2008 (on 7 April) at Adventist Institute for International Advanced Studies, Silang, Cavite, in the Philippines. Eighty one participants come from different university, schools and seminaries all over in the Philippines. We are thankful and most welcome participants from Center Luzon State University (CLSU) and Bagiou city.

By the grace of God, we started at 8.30 AM in the morning with full feeling of joy and ended at 7.30 PM in the evening with happy bye-bye each other without any accident and bad feeling. Our special thanks goes to Dr. Dennis Shu Maung, Petron of PMCF for his opening address and Saya U Khin Maung Kyi and his wife for their over-all taking care of the SportFest.

Our heartfelt thanks goes to donators for the SportFest. Below are their donations.

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings
but shorter tempers, wider Freeways, but narrower viewpoints.

We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less.
We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences,
but less time.

The History of PMCF

Philippines Myanmar Christian Fellowship

Brief History

Since 1987, Myanmar Christians in Manila have been meeting in homes for prayer and fellowship. Myanmar section staff of the Far East Broadcasting Corporation provided most of the leadership in this informal get-together of prayer and fellowship. And in 1990, the Myanmar Christian Fellowship was formed with elected executive committee members consisting Rev Myo Aung as President, Dr. Thein Swe as Secretary and Pastor Steven Piang No as Treasurer. Since then, annual election to the executive committee held regularly but the name of the fellowship was later changed to Philippines Myanmar Christian Fellowship (PMCF) as members are also from other cities of the Philippines such as Baguio, Cabanatuan, Cavite and Metro Manila.
